Performing Salah is the same for males and females. The only difference is the clothing and some specific ways females cover themselves. Here’s how a female can perform Salah:

1. Prepare for Salah ( Salah for Females )

Before you start praying, you need to be clean. This means:

  • Make Wudu (Ablution): Wudu is a washing process where you clean your hands, face, arms, and feet with water. It’s like a mini bath before you pray. You need to do this before each Salah if you are not already clean.
  • Wear Modest Clothing: Females should wear clothes that cover their body properly. You can wear a loose dress, a hijab (headscarf), and make sure your entire body is covered except for your hands and face.
  • Find a Clean Place to Pray: You need to pray in a clean place. It could be in a room at home, at the mosque, or anywhere that’s quiet and clean.

2. Start with the Niyyah (Intention)

Before you start praying, make an intention in your heart. Niyyah means you decide that you are praying for Allah, and you’re doing it with a pure heart. You don’t need to say it out loud, just make the intention in your mind.

3. Takbir al-Ihram (The First Takbir)

The first thing you do when starting Salah is say “Allahu Akbar,” which means “Allah is the Greatest.” You raise your hands up to your ears or shoulders and then place your hands on your chest or belly.

4. Recite Surah Al-Fatiha (Opening Prayer)

After the Takbir, you start by reciting Surah Al-Fatiha (the opening chapter of the Qur’an). This is the same for everyone when you pray. It goes like this:

“Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Rahim. Alhamdu lillahi rabbil ‘alamin. Ar-Rahman ir-Rahim. Maliki yawm id-din. Iyyaka na’budu wa iyyaka nasta’in. Ihdinas-siratal mustaqim. Siratal-ladhina an’amta ‘alayhim ghayril-maghdubi ‘alayhim wa lad-dalin.”

This is a beautiful way of praising Allah and asking for His guidance.

5. Recite Another Surah (Optional)

After Surah Al-Fatiha, it’s time to recite another short surah (chapter) from the Qur’an. A common one to recite is Surah Al-Ikhlas, which is easy to memorize:

“Qul -huwa Allahu- ahad. -Allahus-samad. Lam -yalid wa -lam yulad. -Wa lam -yakul -lahu kufuwan- ahad.”

6. Ruku (Bowing)

After you recite Surah Al-Fatiha and the second surah, you bow down into Ruku. You say “Allahu Akbar” and bend your body so that your hands reach your knees. In this position, your back should be flat and your head should be level with your back. While bowing, you say:

“Subhana -Rabbiyal- Azeem”

7. I’tidal (Standing Upright)

After Ruku, you stand up straight again and say:

“Sami’ Allahu -liman– hamidah, Rabbana- lakal -hamd” (Allah hears the one who praises Him; Our Lord, to You is due all praise).

8. Sujud (Prostration)

Now you go into Sujud. You say “Allahu Akbar” and lower yourself to the ground, placing your forehead, nose, both palms, both knees, and toes on the floor. In this position, you say:

“Subhana– Rabbiyal- A’la”

This is the most special and humble position in Salah, where we are closest to Allah.

9. Jalsa (Sitting)

After the first Sujud, you sit on your legs for a moment. In this position, you can say:

“Rabbighfir li” (My Lord, forgive me).

10. Second Sujud (Prostration)

Then, you do the second Sujud by saying “Allahu Akbar” and going back to the ground again. Repeat the same words:

“Subhana-Rabbiyal -A’la”.

11. Tashahhud (Sitting for Testification)

After you finish the second Sujud, you sit on your legs again and recite the Tashahhud, which is:

“At-tahiyyatu -lil lahi was salawatu -wat-tayyibat. -As-salamu ‘alayka -ayyuhan-Nabiyyu wa -rahmatullahi wa -barakatuhu. -As-salamu ‘alayna wa ‘ala -ibadillahi as-salihin. Ashhadu -alla ilaha illallah -wahdahu la sharika- lahu, wa ashhadu -anna Muhammadan- abduhoo wa -rasooluhu.”

12. Tasleem (Ending the Prayer)

Finally, to end the prayer, you turn your head to the right and say:

“Assalamu -Alaikum -wa -Rahmatullah” (Peace and blessings be upon you).

Then, you turn your head to the left and say the same words again. This marks the end of your Salah.
