Ayatul Kursi (آيَةُ ٱلْكُرْسِيِّ) also known as The Throne verse is the 255th verse of the 2nd chapter of the Quran Surah Al Baqarah 2:255 and is one of the most popular and widely read verse among Muslims all over the world because of its magnificence, its virtues as well as its benefits which we will describe further with the reference of Hadith of our Prophet (pbuh).
So let’s come to the verse.

Ayatul Kursi

1.
اللّٰهُ لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا هُوَ الۡحَـىُّ الۡقَيُّوۡمُ
Allaahu laa ‘ilaaha ‘illaa Huwal-Hayyul-Qayyoom,
Allah! There is no one worthy of worship except Him, the Ever-Living, the One Who sustains and protects everything that exists.
2.
لَا تَاۡخُذُهٗ سِنَةٌ وَّلَا نَوۡمٌؕ
laa ta’khuthuhu sinatun wa laa nawm,
Neither slumber nor sleep overtakes Him.
3.
لَهٗ مَا فِى السَّمٰوٰتِ وَمَا فِى الۡاَرۡضِ
lahu maa fis-samaawaati wa maafil-‘ardh,
Everything in the heavens and on the earth is His.
4.
مَنۡ ذَا الَّذِىۡ يَشۡفَعُ عِنۡدَهٗۤ اِلَّا بِاِذۡنِهٖؕ
man thal-lathee yashfa’u ‘indahu ‘illaa bi’ithnih,
Who is it that can intercede with Him unless He grants permission?
5.
يَعۡلَمُ مَا بَيۡنَ اَيۡدِيۡهِمۡ وَمَا خَلۡفَهُمۡۚ
ya’lamu maa bayna ‘aydeehim wa maa khalfahum,
He understands the fate that awaits them in this world, as well as what lies ahead for them in the Hereafter.
6.
وَلَا يُحِيۡطُوۡنَ بِشَىۡءٍ مِّنۡ عِلۡمِهٖۤ اِلَّا بِمَا شَآءَ
wa laa yuheetoona bishay’im-min ‘ilmihi ‘illaa bimaa shaa’a,
And they will never grasp any of His Knowledge except for what He chooses to reveal.
7.
وَسِعَ كُرۡسِيُّهُ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالۡاَرۡضَ
wasi’a kursiyyuhus-samaawaati wal’ardh,
His Throne stretches across the heavens and the earth.
8
وَلَا يَـــُٔوۡدُهٗ حِفۡظُهُمَا
wa laa ya’ooduhu hifdhuhumaa,
He experiences no weariness in watching over and protecting them.
9.
وَهُوَ الۡعَلِىُّ الۡعَظِيۡمُ
wa Huwal-‘Aliyyul- ‘Adheem.
Allah is the Most High, the Most Great.
Virtue & Benefits of Ayatul Kursi [Hadith]
1. Narrated Muhammad bin Sirin:
Abu Huraira reported, “Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) appointed me to oversee the Zakat of Ramadan, specifically Zakat-ul-Fitr. One day, someone approached me and began to scoop up some of the food meant for Zakat with both hands. I apprehended him and informed him that I would take him to Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ).” Abu Huraira then recounted the entire story, adding, “The thief said, ‘Whenever you go to bed, recite the Verse of ‘Al-Kursi’ (2:255), for a guardian from Allah will protect you, and Satan will not come near you until dawn.’ Upon hearing this, the Prophet (ﷺ) remarked, ‘He spoke the truth, even though he is a liar, and that thief was indeed Satan himself.'”

2. Narrated Ibn al-Asqa’:
The Prophet (ﷺ) visited the home of the immigrants, and a man inquired, “What is the greatest verse of the Qur’an?” The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) responded, “Allah, there is no god but He – the Living, the Self-Subsisting Eternal. Neither slumber nor sleep can overtake Him.”
Sunan Abi Dawud, 4003
3. Narrated ‘Abdullah bin Mas’ud:
Sufyan stated, “There is nothing in the heavens or on earth more magnificent than Ayat Al-Kursi.” He explained, “This is because Ayat Al-Kursi represents the Speech of Allah, and His Speech is greater than all of His creations in the heavens and the earth.”

4. Narrated Abu Umamah (RA):
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) stated: “Anyone who recites Ayat al-Kursi after each obligatory prayer, nothing but death will prevent him from entering Paradise.”
